Oh man, Amy… didn’t know Sophie lost her aide :/ all of those things seem to have bunched together. But I’m glad the new one is good! Changes always come at the most inopportune time in adult life, so I guess this is as a good time as ever to learn about inconvenient and even uncomfortable changes in life for Sophie, cause high school is preparing us to be adults. Hopefully she will learn to deal well! Best of luck with school and everything to you guys

Amy, you have no idea how much this blog means to me. I follow your scathing Twitter account and feel just as you do about the slow, steady erosion of our democracy.
And then I find you here worrying about Sophie and high school and I think about my own daughter Moy Moy and I wonder about the private lives of all those people on both right and left who are – probably – just like us, struggling to be good people and to make this world a better place.
I’m not saying I’m cutting Donald Trump or Roy Moore any slack. Just that the double lives we lead give me hope for the world. There is always a back story.
