Linked to you via today's azcentral post about your writing. Love your writing style. How do we get an invite to next year's Passover Seder? Sounds like fun! I may need to adopt aspects of your Passover style instead of partially resisting the holiday and all it's "rules". All the best to you and your family!

I heard your segment on #ThisAmericanLife with Ita Glass and was moved by you telling of your line hopping at grocery stores when you would encounter someone with a disability bagging groceries. I grew up with an older mentally challenged sister and often found myself doing the same thing. Sadly my sister Beth passed away in 2003 from breast cancer and there is not a day that passes that I do not think of her.

Your experience of your daughter telling you she did not want to have Downs Syndrome when she grew up brought tears to my eyes. How very smart she must be and I suspect a blessing to you in ways you never knew. There is an older movie I love called "The Other Sister" and it holds many aspects of what one child is able to do and how often the other sister feels as though she too must be able to do the same. Check it out if you feel so inclined and be prepared to go from tears to laughter and back to tears. I honestly sat in the theater many years ago and began to tear up enough to make my contact fall out of my eye....as I felt around on my clothes in the dark for my contact I was able to find it; I put it in my mouth to moisten it (yes, I know how gross that sounds) and as I did my tears turned to laughter and I swallowed it whole! Needless to say, I sat watching the rest of the movie with one eye closed...to date, that very movie changed the way I saw my sister for the rest of her life.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful story of your daughter Sophie.
