Okay. This is totally off track. But check out Kathy Cano-Murillo's Crafty Chica shadowbox at the Heard before you give Grandma's sewing machine the old heave ho. She glittered and glammed a sewing machine up and my sister and I clutched each other and cried because we'd let our mother's go. The way the Chica does it, it's a major memorial so take the girls on the light rail and learn from the Chica.

Oh. and we can never ever go wrong with those little fuzzy chenille chicks. I worship mine and the books at the Poisoned Pen with the chicks behaving very, very badly totally rock.

Happy Easter/Passover!

well, not sure if you're crafty but a super fun thing to do with old broken dvds: glue them together shiny side out, putting a tiny picture in the middle - like a locket - and string them up in a chain. hang near a sunny window for shimmery memory fun.

Shocking news (ha ha): I am a HUGE fan of Peanuts cartoons. Leo fell in love with the "The Great Pumpkin" DVD this fall and it's one of the few DVDs that I actually encourage or at least don't mind him watching. I find it funny and sweet to have what we call "the pumpkin" show on year 'round. I like the slow pace, it's a nice break from all the loud shows on now (kids these days!).
But my favorite of all time is the Christmas one (the classic one that was on, yes, just once, when we were kids). I actually have the soundtrack which is very melancholy and always makes me tear up. Peanuts characters are often so wise beyond their years. And also sarcastic which I love.
