The real question, dear one is:
Which is harder to work off -- the Xmas cookies or the mutliday potato latke (nothing like a fried potato to get you in the spirit)?

I was just flipping through the music channels on tv (we have some weird xm/sirius mix now) trying to find something to listen to after Christmas. Can I tell you how disappointed I was to find there was a Chanukah channel the whole time and I never knew until today? I for sure would have been flipping through that during the last month to see what was on there.

Now here I am stuck listening to 80's hair bands. There's always next Christmas season I guess.

I hate to disagree, but chanuka beats the other holiday any day! (I grew up a non-Jew, so I know both sides.)
When my kids were young, I used to give the kids gifts every day, but stopped several years ago. It just leads to more "I need another...."

   * days of chanukah gives us family time together. 8 days of cooking, crafts, and yes, a surprise gift here and there. Often after lighting the menorah (and singing some), we play clue or the like. One night that week we take a walk to look at all our neighbors' menorahs in the windows.
And I don't miss the colored lights. We have warm flames in the menorah.... not as flashey, but so warm. I love to sit after the lighting, cup of coffee in hand, just gazing at the lights.

Obviously if your husband is a non-Jew, you will continue celebrating Dec 25th. But don't put down chanukah. It is one mighty family time. A REAL celebration, not a bunch of gawk.
(Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings, it was not my intention.)
