Note: The retarded policeman is in VERY poor taste, and I can't imagine why anyone high functioning would agree to do it.....

When Ricki (who is now 14 years old) was little, I found it very hard to see groups of older people with Down syndrome. Sometimes maybe I still do if I see a group of adults who are unkept and unchallenged (their carers doen't support them to be neat or nice).
But most young adults I see today are articulate, fun, and interesting. OK., they can have their quirks (like writing Santa) , but the pity-party people can stay at home.

I read this every day. I am disappointed when you don't have a new entry up. I check back over and over. I KNOW I am not the only one to do this. I can't be.
Have you looked up 'The Retarded Policeman' On Youtube?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yioJQFrqMXM
(Some say in bad taste)
This is a kid with DS who is an actor...very high functioning like Sophie. His name is Josh 'The Ponceman' Perry. He has a MySpace and a crazy older brother who is a film maker. I think you should write Josh.
http://www.myspace.com/ponceman
He would tell you what it is like to be a high functioning DS person with a cool life.
